- Mellanie Joy C. Rosales -

CEBU, Philippines – Following the recent bank robbery in Mandaue City, the top official of the Talisay City Police yesterday appealed to the public to be vigilant and cooperate with them in monitoring criminals so the same incident would not happen in their area.

On Thursday afternoon, four armed robbers calmly entered Banco Maximo in Mandaue City and declared a hold up, emptying the bank's vault containing money amounting to P30, 000.

Talisay City Police chief Henry Biñas said they frequently visit the different banks and other establishments in their area of responsibility, adding he even assigned policemen to conduct patrol in Barangay Tabunok where most of the banks and other commercial establishments are located.

Biñas added they cannot prevent some incidents to happen but promised that they will do their best to maintain security and safety in their area.

Talisay City has reportedly more than 10 banks and a number of other business establishments.

Biñas called on the owners and managers of the banks in their place and even to the other establishments to keep guard and report immediately to their station if ever they notice suspicious-looking persons roaming around.

According to him, they are always conducting a saturation drive in places that could be used as dens of robbers and other criminals.

Biñas also encouraged the residents of every barangays to report immediately to their station when they see unfamiliar persons with suspicious acts. With Brenda Batuto of Banat News/WAB (FREEMAN)
