CEBU, Philippines – Officials of Cordova town welcomed the announcement of sixth district Rep. Gabriel Luis "Luigi" Quisumbing that he would put up a mini-hospital in the town.
Cordova Mayor Adelino Sitoy said that earlier, during the campaign period before the May elections, Quisumbing made a promise that he will prioritize the health problems affecting the residents of Cordova.
In his recent visit to Cordova, Quisumbing informed Sitoy and other town officials that he already filed a bill for the creation of mini-hospital in the town together with his proposal to upgrade the Eversly Child Sanitarium Hospital in Mandaue City.
Quisumbing has proposed that the mini-hospital in Cordova town will be administered by the officials of Eversly Child Sanitarium Hospital.
Sitoy admitted that most of his sick constituents still need to be transported to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City for treatment because they do not have their own hospital.
He added that before, Cordova residents would seek treatment at the Lapu-Lapu District Hospital, which has also now become crowded and could no longer accommodate patients from outside the city.
Sitoy said residents of his town could also not go to private hospitals in Lapu-Lapu City because they are collecting higher fees.
"Maglisod gayud ang atong mga pasyente kon sila madala sa pribadong hospital gumikan kay mahal man kayo ang bayad," said Sitoy.
The mayor said the establishment of a mini-hospital in Cordova has been the dream of many residents of his town.
"Hinaut nga matuman na gayud kini pinaagi sa tabang ni Luigi," said Sitoy. (FREEMAN)
