CEBU, Philippines – A motorcycle-for-hire driver landed at the hospital after he was shot by two motorcycle-riding near the Cebu City Jail in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City Wednesday afternoon.
Mark Roble, 24, a resident of Pagtambayayong in the said barangay, sustained gunshot wounds to his thigh and knee.
The victim told police, at around 1 p.m., he was outside a store near the city jail waiting for potential passengers when two men aboard a motorcycle suddenly stopped in front of him.
The backrider then shot him to his left thigh and left knee before speeding off to escape.
Roble was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center where he is now recuperating of the wounds he sustained.
The assailants, the victim said, were wearing full-face helmets, black shirts and denim pants.
PO2 Michael Codaste of the Homicide Section of the city police said Roble could not identify the assailants but said he believes that someone might be jealous of him.
The victim claimed that he has this regular female passenger whom he took to and from the city jail and believes someone affiliated to the woman might have harbored a grudge on him.
The police officer said the assailants may have attacked Roble to send him a warning. He explained the gunman shot the victim at close range and if there was indeed an intention to kill, he could have shot his head or other vital parts of his body. (FREEMAN)
