Ibabao-Estancia still poster-free

CEBU, Philippines – Barangay Ibabao-Estancia will remain a poster free area in Mandaue City as the nation prepares for the October 25 barangay and SK elections.

Barangay Ibabao-Estancia captain Carmelino del Mar said no posters were put up just anywhere in the barangay during the May 25 elections.

Del Mar said the barangay council approved last year's barangay resolution no.87-58 which prohibits the putting up of unlawful election propaganda in public places, structures, buildings, school, electric posts, wires, and in the main thoroughfares.

He said the only designated areas are the barangay hall and the Bagsakan Centers. This arrangement makes the barangay look clean before and after elections, del Mar said.

He said the barangay has organized a patrol team tasked to remove propaganda materials that violate the rule.

Campaign posters seen posted on private properties will be removed if candidates do not have the permission of owners to post anything on their property.

Ibabao-Estancia has a voting population of 10,600 and the barangay is host to many establishments. (FREEMAN)
