Central Visayas vice mayors elect Binghay as president

CEBU, Philippines – Balamban Vice Mayor Rosario Binghay, wife of third district Provincial Board Member Alex Binghay, was elected unopposed as the new regional chairman of the League of Vice Mayor's of the Philippines in Region 7.

The election was held yesterday at the Golden Peak Hotel along Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City.

A total of 78 vice mayors from the different cities and municipalities of Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor attended yesterday's election.

The couple's son, Ace Binghay, is now the new mayor of Balamban.

Department of the Interior and Local Government 7 Director Pedro Noval presided over the meeting and conduct of the elections.

In her speech, Vice Mayor Binghay thanked her fellow vice mayors for their support and confidence in her.

Binghay said she will work for the good of the league and will implement programs to benefit each member.

"Daghan kaayo ko og mga plano ug programa alang sa atong liga, manghinaut ako nga inyo akong tabangan niining dakong gimbuhaton," said Vice Mayor Binghay. (I have many plans for our league, I hope you will assist me in these tasks.)

The other elected league officials, who were also unopposed, were: Vice Mayor Edwin Ladeza of Loon, Bohol as vice chairman; Vice Mayor Clint Maratas of Tudela, Cebu as secretarty-general; Vice Mayor Alan Gel S. Cordova of Dumaguete City as assistant secretary general and Vice Mayor Patton Olano of Duero, Bohol as treasurer.

The list of new officials also include Vice Mayor Elanito Pena of Minglanilla, Cebu as assistant treasurer; Vice Mayor James Monte of Lazi, Siquijor as auditor and the Press Relations Officers who are Vice Mayor Francisco Gonzales of Trinidad (for Bohol); Vice Mayor Aslan Bucao of Talisay City (for Cebu); Vice Mayor Nathaniel Electona of Sta.Catalina (for Negros Oriental) and Vice Mayor Glicero Andog of San Juan town (of Siquijor).

The league's board of directors are: Vice Mayor Frederick Raul of Lila town and Vice Mayor Danilo Guivencan of Dimiao, for Bohol Province; Vice Mayor Iris Gestopa of Catmon and Vice Mayor Jonnah John Ungab of Ronda for Cebu Province; Vice Mayor Carmen Tan of Amlan and Vice Mayor Ike Amorganda of Bindoy for Negros Oriental; Vice Mayor Delfin Macahis of Siquijor and Vice Mayor Meynard Asok of Maria town for Siquijor.
