Bets file COCs in Lapu-Lapu
CEBU, Philippines – Supporters accompanied candidates for barangay captain and Sangguniang Kabataan positions yesterday to the Commission on Elections office in Lapu-Lapu City to file their certificates of candidacy.
Comelec said although some candidates filed their COCs October 8 and 10, it is expected that some more candidates would file their candidacies today to beat the deadline at mid-night.
"Daghan kayo ang mi-file pagka 8 ug 10 kay matud pa nila suwerte kaayo nga numero, pasuwerte para nila," said a Comelec official.
Lapu-Lapu City Election Officer Ferdinand Gujilde has assured his office will continue to accept COC's until midnight tonight.
"Ilabi na gayud niadtong mo file sa adlaw nga deadline, importante gayud kaayo nga walay problema ang ilang mga papeles," said Gujilde said.
The FREEMAN visited the office of the Commission on Elections in Lapu-Lapu City yesterday morning and witnessed a number of supporters with their candidates.
Re-electionist barangay captain Leo Mercado of Pajo, who is also the president of the Association of Barangay Councils, also filed his Certificate of Candidacy yesterday. So did his councilors.
Incumbent Ibo barangay councilor Aurelio "Intoy" Booc, with his councilors also filed his COC's.
Booc, who is challenging incumbent barangay captain Ferdinand Cajilog, was accompanied by members of his family, relatives, friends, and supporters. (FREEMAN)
