Two dead, two hurt in road accidents

CEBU, Philippines – Two men died while two others were injured in two separate vehicular accidents in the towns of Balamban and Borbon on Saturday.

In Barangay Pundol, Balamban, a pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a speeding motorcycle. The incident also caused injuries to the two people riding the vehicle.

PO3 Celso Diaz identified the fatality as Diosdado Albarca and two other injured as Warlito Hilamos, 20, the motorcycle driver and his passenger, Armand Racal, 21, all residents of the place.

A police report said Hilamos was driving the motorcycle with Racal on his pillion from Barangay Sta. Cruz bound for Barangay Buanoy. However, upon reaching Barangay Pundol, Albarca suddenly crossed the road and was hit by the speeding motorcycle.

After hitting the victim, Hilamos allegedly lost control of the vehicle that went zigzag before it slumped into the pavement.

Residents rushed Hilamos and Racal to Balamban District Hospital while responding policemen were the ones who took Albarca to the same hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Hilamos is set to be charged today with reckless imprudence resulting to homicide, the police said.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Bonnie Enzo met his untimely death when the chain of the motorcycle he was riding suddenly broke in Barangay Poblacion, Borbon town at 3 p.m.

Investigation showed the victim was driving fast on his way home to Barangay Daan-Tabogon in Tabogon town when upon reaching Borbon, the chain of his vehicle suddenly broke.

As a result, he lost control of the motorcycle and rammed into a tree.

The victim, who suffered severe head contusions and bruises to his body, was rushed to Damolog District Hospital in Sogod but died along the way. - With Banat News/WAB (FREEMAN)
