Lapu-Lapu needs additional courts

CEBU, Philippines – The Lapu-Lapu City council has approved a resolution which requests lone district of Lapu-Lapu Rep. Arturo O. Radaza to file a bill creating additional salas for the Regional Trial Court and Municipal Trial Court in Cities in Lapu-Lapu.

Councilors Florito Pozon and Francisco Senerpida, both practicing lawyers, are the authors of the resolution.

At present, Lapu-Lapu City has an existing three RTC salas while only one Municipal Trial Court in Cities.

Pozon said Lapu-Lapu City needs at least 14 additional salas because the ratio per sala should be 300 cases filed.

But at present, the three RTC salas had pending cases totaling to 5,593.

Pozon said they hope Rep. Radaza will respond to their request. (FREEMAN)
