First 100 days report today: Rama to report accomplishments on seven areas

- Jessica Ann R. Pareja -

CEBU, Philippines – Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama will report today what he has, so far, accomplished in his first 100 days in office.

Rama will render his report before the representatives of the city residents in the City Council during its regular session this morning.

The Mayor summarizes his accomplishments into seven capital letters in the alphabet, "A.H.L.P.G.T.D." which stands for Asphalting of roads, Health, Lighting, Peace and Order, Garbage, Traffic and Drainage.

He however refused to give details so as not to preempt his report today but said he was satisfied with the reports submitted to him by the department heads and the people to whom he delegated the tasks to work on the improvements.

"From the footages presented, we can see that all are doing their share. I'm proud of that because it has always been my principle that together, we make things happen," Rama said.

As regards to asphalting, the latest report was the P31 million allocation this year for the asphalting of city roads identified by the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW).

More budget is expected to be included in next year's annual budget because Rama wants to have a master plan of all roads that needs asphalting and concreting to be completed within three years.

The DEPW is now working on the inventory of all roads and streets with corresponding recommendations.

As far as health service is concerned, among Rama's visible accomplishments are the renovation of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) and the retention of the city's medical and hospitalization program for the benefits of the city indigents. The rest shall be reported during a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. today.

Meanwhile, Rama said there is no department head to be terminated as all of them has shown a satisfactory performance especially on the tasks he gave them in relation to his first 100 days projects.

When he assumed office, he gave all department heads three months to prove themselves that they deserve their positions.

He said he is not terminating anyone but said there might be some movements if he sees that one department head is better assigned in another office.

He also said that if they passed the three-month trial period, it doesn't mean that they are already off the hook because they will be constantly evaluated to ensure that they are doing their job all the time.

"Evaluation is a lifetime process. I will always make sure that the right person is put at the right position," Rama said. (FREEMAN)
