Village chiefs help cops impose curfew on minors

CEBU, Philippines – Village chiefs in Lapu-Lapu City are helping the police enforce the curfew ordinance on juveniles.

More than 400 juveniles have been apprehended by the police barangay officials and tanods since the ordinance took effect January.

They were released after being briefed while others were sent to the Home Care Center.

The Home Care Center in barangay Poblacion is under the supervision of the city social welfare office.

The city social welfare office has programs geared toward the rehabilitation and education of youth offenders.

The Home Care Center which is located in barangay Gun-ob helps rehabilitate offenders.

Curfew on minors starts at 10 p.m. and ends at 5 a.m.

Mayor Paz Radaza said the implementation of the curfew ordinance will reduce the crimes related to minors. (FREEMAN)
