Spider vendor shoots customer over disagreement on price

CEBU, Philippines - A disagreement over the price of spider prompted a man to shoot his “customer” in Barangay Poblacion Ward I, Minglanilla yesterday morning.

Jeniro Cabarrobias, 40, resident of Barangay Basak Pardo in Cebu City, sustained a gunshot wound to his waist and was immediately taken to the nearby district hospital. He was later transferred to the Cebu City Medical Center for further treatment.

Police said the victim failed to identify the suspect.

Cabarrobias said he and the suspect were beside Minglanilla Central School around 9:30 a.m. talking about the price of spiders that the latter will sell to him.

But minutes later, a disagreement ensued between them over the price of spider that irked the suspect.

Cabarrobias said he did not notice the suspect pulled out a .38 caliber of firearm and shoot him. 

The unknown suspect immediately fled away after the incident.

SPO1 Renato Matangkay, leader of the alert team, and his companions responded to the area but failed to identify or arrest the suspect.

In Sogod town, a man died after he was shot while cleaning his kitchen in Sitio Nabunturan, Barangay Tabunok Friday evening.

Felipe Talingting, of legal age, died before reaching the hospital due to fatal gunshot wound in the head and back portion of his body.

Investigation conducted by SPO3 Ulysses Armesin, SPO1 William Jumao-as and PO2 Dario Dinupol revealed that at around 6:30 p.m., the victim was cleaning his kitchen when the unidentified suspect came to his house and suddenly shot him several times.

Talingting was immediately rushed to the nearby Juan Dosado Memorial Hospital in Damulog, Sogod but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.

Police recovered a wallet and sweatshirt from the crime scene. There were reports that before the incident, some residents saw two suspicious looking motorcycle-riding men in the area.

Investigators are now trying to determine if the two men have something to do with the death of Talingting.    (FREEMAN NEWS)
