Sitoy now wants spouse's ok in order to buy sex stimulants

CEBU, Philippines – First it was separate toilets for homosexuals and bisexuals, then it was nutrition labels for chicharon, and now Provincial Board Member Arleigh Jay Sitoy wants that there should be permits for buying drugs that enhance sexual performance.

Sitoy now wants pharmacies not to sell sex stimulating or enhancement drugs without a valid medical prescription and an attested marital consent.

The said resolution has already passed the first reading.

Sitoy's resolution reads that there is a need to regulate the sale and dispensation of sex stimulating or enhancing drugs in order to protect the health and safety of the consumers as well as to ensure that these are not abused.

"Ako lang diri is protection sa family, dili ta mohimo ug butang to encourage the husband nga mangita ug lain that is why there is an attested marital consent," he told The FREEMAN.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia said Sitoy should not invade the privacy of couples.

The governor also said that Sitoy is using the public office for his personal grudges and own agenda.

"He is just using the PB to come up with news and comes up the same silly and not carefully studied resolutions but what is ridiculous is to have an attested marital consent," Garcia told reporters.

Sitoy has received criticism on his proposed ordinance requiring commercial chicharon manufacturers to reflect the nutritional component of chicharon and to place appropriate health warnings on their product packaging.

He later admitted the said ordinance was based on his personal experience and thus he wants to caution the others against eating chicharon excessively.

"I am not trying to eliminate the industry but maintain the entrepreneurial activity. I am not trying to play politics here but ako lang is social responsibility and save the economy of chicharon which I know has a high cholesterol content," he said.

Both proposed ordinances are still subject for public hearings and open to amendments, said Sitoy. -/BRP (FREEMAN)
