Man dies, 3 hurt in road accidents
CEBU, Philippines – A man died while three others were injured including a 7-year-old girl in two separate vehicular accidents in Toledo City and Tuburan.
Yujimbo Ong Abueva, 38, of Barangay Lutopan died Tuesday evening after his motorcycle collided with the police car driven by Sateniaman Damasole, 55, in Sitio Dasuga II, Lutopan.
Abueva was on board his Honda XRM motorcycle and was reportedly driving downhill very fast when he met the police patrol car negotiating uphill.
Abueva lost his control of the motorcycle and meet the patrol car head on. The patrol car was on its way to the Lutopan police station because of the inspection conducted by the National Police Commission.
Because of the impact Abueva was thrown off several meters away from his motorcycle. He was immediately brought to the Carmen Copper Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Toledo Police Chief Inspector Jovito Canlapan said that the father of the victim told them that his son does not have any drivers' license and there were no papers for the motorcycle.
Damasole, an employee of the city government of Toledo, was temporarily detained at the station. Police said that they are still waiting for the family of the victim to file the formal complaint.
In Tuburan, a 7-year-old girl identified as Trisha Mariel Malinao of Sitio Matnog, Barangay Putat was injured when Alberto Sarlatan, 24, of Barangay Bagasawe bumped her with his motorcycle Monday noon.
Sarlatan was driving his Kawasaki 100 motorcycle when he hit Malinao while crossing the street on her way to school.
Malinao was rushed to the Tuburan District Hospital for treatment while Sarlatan was brought to the police station. The police learned that the suspect did not have a driver's license.
Few hours after the incident, another vehicular accident occurred along the national highway in Barangay 7 Poblacion involving a black Honda motorcycle for hire and a trisikad for hire.
Gilbert Dela Peña, a "habal-habal" driver of Barangay Mangga collided with a trisikad driven by Bryan Monsanto of Barangay Daan Lungsod.
The two suffered bruises and injuries. Bystanders near the area brought the two to the Tuburan District Hospital. (FREEMAN)
