CEBU, Philippines – The policeman who was accused of luring six children to drink gin during his daughter's birthday party last year pleaded not guilty to the case filed against him in court.
The not guilty plea entered by PO3 Noel Monares shocked the parents of the children who said they will pursue the case until the very end.
"Nganong ma-not guilty man siya nga tinood man ang gibuhat niya sa mga bata? Naa man ang mga bata, makatubag man," said one of the parents Virginia Gabucan.
The incident reportedly traumatized the children. They had to be brought to the hospital at that time.
It was alleged that Monares lured them to drink gin in exchange of P20 at his residence in Barangay Kalunasan.
"Dili nalang gyud mi musibog kay naa naman mi diri. Nakatungtong naman mi diri. Amo nalang gyud padayunon." Gabucan said.
Monares is facing charges for alleged violation of Republic Act 7610 or the Anti -Child Abuse Law. The court has scheduled a pre-trial conference on his case on November 22. (FREEMAN)
