University of the Visayas grad places 9th in Master Electrician board

CEBU, Philippines – A graduate of the University of the Visayas College of Engineering and Architecture finished in the top 10 of the Professional Regulations Commission Registered Master Electrician Licensure Examinations.

Engr. Dendei Castro Camaongay finished ninth place with a rating of 82.5 percent in the recently concluded RME Licensure Exams. Camaongay said he would have scored higher if only he was confident enough to change an answer that he realized was wrong.

"I realized that I shaded the wrong answer in one of the questions. I wanted to change it but I was scared that the machine would not recognize my new answer so I just let it be," he said.

The 30-year-old Camaongay, who is from Compostela town, Cebu, is already a licensed Electronics and Communications Engineer. He said he took the RME to boost his credentials so he can get a job.

Camaongay was presented by the officials of the College of Engineering and Architecture, headed by the dean, Engr. Venancio Besavilla, to UV Executive Vice President Dr. Jose "Dodong" Gullas, along with engineering students who have made the university proud.

The university has produced six PRC registered Mechanical Engineers, who passed the licensure exams this month. The new engineers are Renante E. Bato, Jerry T. Calvo Jr., Jonel C. Leorna, Nolasco C. Morales Jr., Johnrald C. Celada and Jessie G. Bagares.  (FREEMAN)
