Man kills neighbor in Lapu-Lapu

CEBU, Philippines – A longtime grudge has driven a man to kill his neighbor in Purok Kulo, Barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City shortly before noon yesterday.

Cesar Pugoy, Jr., 35, died of two stab wounds on his left chest after he was stabbed by Danilo Bermijo, 44.

Bermijo got stabbed first by Pugoy on his left upper hip and left arm but managed to run inside his house and took a crescent blade which he uses to kill Pugoy.

PO3 Dioscoro Arong, the investigating officer, said the suspect was playing mahjong when Pugoy and a certain Adonis Dungob arrived. Pugoy, how was reportedly drunk, approached Bermijo and stabbed him twice.

The wounded Bermijo run inside his house and took his crescent blade and came back for Pugoy who was still outside waiting for him.

Bermijo stabbed Pugoy twice on the chest killing him on the spot. Pugoy's companion, Dungob, also got mauled by Bermijo's father-in-law, Nestor Amion, 63, and their neighbors.

Bermijo took himself to the Lapu-Lapu District Hospital while Pugoy was also taken by a certain Insik to the same hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Lapu-Lapu Police immediately conducted a pursuit operation and arrested Bermijo already at the Vicente Memorial Medical Center where he was referred.

The police said Bermijo and Pugoy have not been in goods terms for the past several years after the former filed a case for qualified trespass to dwelling against the victim.

According to the police, Pugoy has been provoking the suspect by attacking his house. (FREEMAN)
