PDEA nabs suspected pushers in Lapu-Lapu
CEBU, Philippines – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency has arrested two suspected drug pushers in a buy-bust operation Saturday in Barangay Soong Uno, Lapu-Lapu City.
PDEA-7 spokesperson Jessie Tabanao identified the suspects as James Bryle "Opaw" Alfeche, 21, and Bherny Gapol, 24, a native of Sapad, Lanao del Norte.
PDEA agents swooped down on Alfeche and Gapol following complaints from at least three residents of the place because of traffic problem caused by alleged drug users visiting the suspects' place.
The information prompted PDEA operatives to conduct surveillance operations for two weeks. Tabanao said they were able to confirm that the suspects were engaged in illegal drug trade.
One of the PDEA agents acted as poseur buyer and bought a pack of shabu worth P200 from Gapol. The transaction led to the subsequent arrest of Gapol and Alfeche.
PDEA operatives recovered 11 packs of shabu from Alfeche while 29 packs were also recovered from Gapol's possession.
Tabanao said the suspects get their supplies from Mindanao. He however said that they are already monitoring the supplier. (FREEMAN)
