CEBU, Philippines – Consolacion wants more policemen assigned to the town for the duration of the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections and the annual town fiesta celebration.
The municipal council, through a resolution, requests the Cebu Provincial Police Office chief Erson Digal, to assign 20 additional policemen to the town from October 15 to November 1, to augment the existing 21 policemen already in the town.
Councilor Illuminado Alin, chairman of the Committee on Police, said the 21 policemen that would be looking after 85,000 residents is far from the ideal ratio which is 1 policeman for every 500 residents.
The rest of the council said the present situation will be aggravated by the forthcoming elections and the influx of guests and visitors for the various fiesta activities. (FREEMAN)
