Bike driver dies in Danao road accident

CEBU, Philippines – A motorcycle driver died after he was hit by a speeding van along the national road of Barangay Taytay, Danao City dawn yesterday.

Ian Rey Batanay Baynosa, of legal age, resident of Sitio Uragay, Barangay Corte, Carmen was declared dead at the Danao District Hospital due to serious physical injuries.

Police investigation revealed that around 2:30 a.m., Baynosa was driving northbound on his Honda XRM motorcycle with plate numbers 7300-GA on his way home.

But while driving, another vehicle, describe as a closed van traveling towards the opposite direction, accidentally hit the victim.

Police said no specific description of the other involved vehicle was reported to them as the place where the accident occurred was dark and nobody witnesses it as the area is far from the residents' houses.

Due to the impact of the collision, Baynosa fell from his motorcycle and was thrown away into the asphalted road with estimated distance of 27 meters away from the point of impact.

After the accident, police said the driver of the van sped away towards Danao City proper leaving his victim lying on the pavement full of blood.

Baynosa was allegedly not wearing his helmet when the accident occurred.

The victim's motorcycle was totally damaged and was temporarily kept in Danao City Police Station. (FREEMAN)
