Man killed, another wounded over 'kaka'

CEBU, Philippines - A man met his untimely death after he was shot on the head by a drunk man who lost his P20 bet at a spider fight last Friday night in Barangay Cabadiangan, Liloan town.

The fatality, Arnel Barrita, 26, was merely watching the fight, but was the one who caught the ire of the suspect, Jimmy Lucido, 27. Barrita was hit on the left side of his head.Investigation revealed that Lucido got mad after he lost his bet on a spider owned by one Rolando Gomez. He reportedly engaged in an argument with Gomez and Barrita, but subsequently walked away.

Lucido, however, returned with a gun and when Barrita asked him why he was bringing the firearm, Lucido shot the victim at gunpoint.

Lucido also approached the billiard table where spider fight was held and fired at the group of people thereat, hitting one Jonas Bughaw on the left arm.

Barrita was brought to the Eversely Hospital, but he passed away by midnight. Bughaw, meanwhile, is recuperating at the Cebu City Medical Center.

Lucido immediately fled after the incident. (THE FREEMAN)
