Legislative Building Legal threats won't stop installation of cameras

-

CEBU, Philippines – Despite legal threats from Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez, Jr., the executive department is determine to proceed with the plan to set up closed-circuit television cam-eras at the Legislative Building particularly the vice governor's office.

Capitol consultant Rory Jon Sepulveda yesterday said they are just waiting for the recommendation from the Provincial Engineering's Office on how to effect the in-stallation of the devices.

Sepulveda said that Sanchez may go to court if he wants to. Sanchez lamented that putting up of CCTV cameras in his office is another form of harassment employed by Garcia against him.

He also described it as a curtailment of his right as the second highest ranking official in the province.

The main Capitol building is already equipped with CCTV cameras while none yet at the Legislative Building where the Provincial Engineering is also located.

Sepulveda said that Sanchez has nothing to fear about installing CCTV cameras as this will serve as management tool on how to improve the system and workflow in the offices.

The move came after five of Sanchez's employees were "unaccounted for" and not in their workplace when a random audit of personnel was conducted last week.

Sepulveda said the Provincial Human Resource Office was prompted to conduct a random audit after they learned that a province-owned vehicle was involved in a ve-hicular accident in Barangay Owak Asturias town in August 29, which is a Sunday.

It was also later learned that the Mitsubishi Strada pick-up involved in the accident was assigned to the Vice Governor's Office.

Garcia and Sanchez belong to different political parties and have been openly at odds since late last year.  (FREEMAN)
