Police uproot marijuana in Carmen
CEBU, Philippines – A total of 1, 120 fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted in Sitio Capiz, Barangay Hagnaya, Carmen, Cebu Tuesday morning.
This is after the Carmen police received a message from a concerned citizen informing them about the said plantation.
Carmen Police Chief Milo Dagasdas and his team, as well as elements from the Regional Intelligence Unit 7 (RIU) went to Barangay Hagnaya to verify the report.
Upon reaching the place, the authorities saw that the plantation was in plain view.
Aside from the fully grown marijuana, they also uprooted 1,000 small marijuana plants and 10,000 seedlings.
All these were taken to the police station. No suspects were arrested during the uprooting but police said they will check as to who owns the place.
Just last week, law enforcers also uprooted some P1.2 million worth of marijuana from a mountain barangay in Balamban.
Meanwhile, in Toledo City, a man was detained after police recovered 11 marijuana stalks from his motorcycle.
The Toledo City police were conducting patrol when they saw a group of men playing hantak. When they approached to check, the men scampered in different direc-tions but left behind a motorcycle.
This was claimed by Sonny Omayan, 22, of Barangay Magdugo, who was asked to show proof of ownership. When Omayan opened the motorcycle's U-box, he alleg-edly picked up a plastic canister and threw this away.
The police suspected something was wrong so they checked the canister and saw the marijuana stalks. (FREEMAN)
