Liloan's scholarship program to continue
CEBU, Philippines – Liloan town Mayor Vincent Franco "Duke" Frasco has assured the townspeople that the scholarship program of the municipality will go on and that he is working to increase the budget.
At present, the town through the local school board has allocated P1 million for the implementation of the scholarship program.
Frasco, accompanied by Vice Mayor Merelito Surita and members of the municipal council of the town, yesterday visited the different public and elementary schools in the town.
Frasco told parents his administration is giving priority to education besides the improvement of the delivery of basic services.
"Tanan gihatagan gayud nato sa pagtagad, apan nakita nato nga ang pagpalambo sa education sa lungsod usa sa angayan gayud nga hatagan sa igong pagtagad," said Mayor Frasco.
Frasco said at present there are 242 scholars who have availed of the scholarship program.
The town has also provided bags and school materials to Grade I students of all public elementary schools.
Municipal Councilor Bernard Lopez, chairman of the committee on education, said scholars who have availed of the scholarship program of the municipal government are those who passed the screening. (FREEMAN)
