CEBU, Philippines – The leader of a Bantay Dagat team based in San Remigio town is now in critical condition after he was allegedly shot by one of his members outside their office in Barangay Poblacion, San Remigio, last Monday evening.
Edgar Bojos, a resident of Barangay Lapas, Bogo City, was shot in his right ear with the slug exiting through the left side of his face, allegedly by one of his members identified as Madison Aton, of Barangay Bagtik, San Remigio.
SPO4 Simplicio Arnoco Bintulan, officer-in-charge of the San Remigio Police Station told The FREEMAN that Aton had a grudge against Bojos for allegedly being always left behind when their team conducts some activity.
Based on the investigation, weeks before the incident, the two had an argument regarding this matter.
At around 9:25 p.m., the suspect went to the town's cultural center on board his motorcycle searching for Bojos. Upon seeing Bojos standing just outside the cultural center, Aton approached the victim and shot him with a .45 cal. pistol before fleeing.
The victim was rushed to the Severo Verallo Memorial District Hospital in Bogo City but he was transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
Policemen recovered an empty shell from the crime scene. (FREEMAN)
