Army troops uncover marijuana farm in Danao

CEBU, Philippines - Sixty fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted by the members of the Philippine Army in Barangay Danasan II, Danao City Tuesday evening.

Elements of the 52nd battalion of the Philippine Army were on their way to serve a warrant of arrest for murder against Ronaldo Batican when they chanced upon the Marijuana plantation in a very secluded area.

The army failed to arrest Batican but their efforts in going to the place was not in vain because they were able to uncover the marijuana plantation. They however failed to arrest the cultivator as there was nobody around when the discovery was made.

The residents in the area also refused to give information to the members of the army claiming that they do not know who owns the farm. The fully grown marijuana stalks were turned over by the army to the Danao City Police station.

Danao City police claimed they are already in intensifying their campaign against illegal activities in their area of jurisdiction. They promise to find out who was the owner of the plantation discovered by the army. (THE FREEMAN)
