Mandaue gives recognition to top taxpayers, others

CEBU, Philippines - Last Aug. 30, Mandaue City gave recognition to top business tax payers, individuals, non-governmental organizations, and residents who have been successful in their respective fields and had brought honor to the city.

Mandaue City Mayor Jonas Cortes said that in recent years, the economy in the city grew.

"I acknowledge and commend our businessmen for their significant contribution to the welfare and well being of our people, together we will continue to unlock multiple doors of business opportunities and make Mandaue a favored and prime investment destination in our country," Cortes said.

City Councilor Diosdado P. Suico, chairman of the committee on awards and prizes told THE FREEMAN that the selection was based on the recommendations of different sectors.

The city government handed plaques of appreciation and recognition to the top 10 Business Taxpayers this year (Corporation/Partnership).

These are Coca-Cola Bottlers Philippines, Inc., Zueillig Pharma Corporation, JS Unitrade Merchandise, Inc., Super Metro Gaisano Vicsal Development Corporation, Monde Nissin Biscuits Corporation, United Laboratories, Inc., Monark Equipment Corporation of the Philippines, San Miguel Brewery, Inc., and San Miguel Yamamura Packaging Corporation.

The top 10 Business Tax payers this year (Sole Proprietorship) are Vic Enterprises, Dynamic Casting, Ride's Enterprise, PLD Construction, Aries Distributor, Ideal Builders, Treadtel.Co.Ph, Nismo Trading, Mandaue Libertad Commercial and Packaging and Waterborne Freight Forwarder.

On the other hand, the top ten individual taxpayers (realty tax) are James Yu, Ferdinand Tio, Victor Chiongbian, King Kee Ko, Eramon Aboitiz, Hyman Yap, Raymond Ong, Jimmy Casera, Peter Yap and Johnny Uy.

The top ten corporate taxpayers (realty tax) are San Miguel Brewery, Inc., Taipan Development, Inc., Cenapro Incorporated, J. King and Sons Co, Inc., Coca Cola Bottlers Phils., Inc., Philippine National Bank, San Miguel Corporation, Vel-Ouano Realty , Inc., A.D. Gothong Manufacturing Corp. Inc. and Philippines Makro Inc.

The city government also acknowledged individuals, NGO's and private groups who were involved in programs undertaken by the city government.

Those given plaques of appreciation and recognition were Gawad Kalinga, Aboitiz Foundation, Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc., Philippine Action for Community Led Shelter Initiatives, Inc., Homeless People Federation Philippines, Inc., Kaabag Foundation Inc., Mandaue Cultural, Historical, Education, Sports and Tourism (CHEST) Foundation, Inc., Operation Blessings, Province of Cebu under the administration of Governor Gwen Garcia, Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Junior Chamber International (JCI) Mandaue City Chapter, Mandaue Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Senior Citizens Most Outstanding Chapter, Bitoon sa Kadalanan, San Miguel Brewery, Inc., Miss Fretzie Joan Bercede, Paul Jake Castillo, Serafin Geson III, Pvt, Uldarico Perez Cabahug, Amado Go, Loren Dale Echavez, Donnie "Ahas" Nietes, and Malcolm Tunacao. – THE FREEMAN
