CEBU, Philippines – Two suspected drug pushers were arrested in a buy bust operation in Sitio Tawog, Barangay Valladolid, Carcar City last Saturday afternoon.
Garman Babay, 42, and Niño Mark Lawas, 22, both residents of the barangay, were caught by elements of the Carcar Police on the act of selling alleged shabu.
Police intercepted the sale after an informant tipped the police station about the alleged illegal activities of the two.
SPO1 Rolando Bastida and PO2 Christopher Mendaros acted as poseur buyers while SPO2 Jurame Tanudtanud, PO2 Paulino Sanchez Jr., and PO1 Julius Aniñon en-forced the arrest. PO2 Mendaros told The FREEMAN Babay and Lawas allegedly hold the reputation of being engaged in the illegal drugs trade.
Mendaros said the buy bust was consummated at a corner near a school in Barangay Valladolid.
The suspects were placed under arrest just when they handed over a small transparent plastic sachet after the authorities handed P200 over to them as payment. The other sachets were reportedly found during a body search of the suspects.
Babay and Lawas are temporarily detained at the police station. Police will file a case against them today for violating Article II Sec. 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (FREEMAN)
