Nursing student survives gun attack

CEBU, Philippines - A nursing student landed at the hospital after he was shot by an unidentified person around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sitio Nasipit, Barangay Talamban, Cebu City.

The victim was identified as Nino Rey Basale, 21, single, a nursing student of Southwestern University, and a resident of Barangay Pakigne, Minglanilla town.

Basle was with his friends, Charles Villordon and Earl Salazar and were walking along the road towards the University of San Carlos-Talamban Campus to watch a concert when an unidentified person approached him. The man suddenly pulled out a handgun and without any apparent reason, shot him in the head but the gun failed to fire.

This prompted Basale to run for safety but the suspect shot him again hitting the latter at the back portion of his right shoulder.

The suspect immediately fled from the area while the victim was rushed by his friends, Roland Regor and Rasheed Amores on board the ambulance of the Emergency Rescue Unit to the Perpetual Soccour Hospital for medical treatment.
