CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Councilor Augustus “Jun” Pe Jr. was elected as president of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) Cebu City Chapter yesterday.
The election was attended by 14 of the 18 councilors of Cebu City, who also agreed to have Councilor Jose “Joey” Daluz III as the PCL’s vice president.
Elected Secretary is Councilor Lea Japson, while the treasurer is Councilor Raul Alcoseba. Councilor Noel Wenceslao, meanwhile, is the local league’s auditor while Councilors Ritchie Osmeña and Ronald Cuenco are public relations manager and business manager, respectively.
The board of directors is composed of Councilors Alvin Dizon, Rodrigo Abellanosa, Edgardo Labella, Edu Rama, Roberto Cabarrubias, Alvin Arcilla, Sisinio Andales and Maria Nida Cabrera.
Each officer was elected without an opponent, which they said was proof of the unity within the league. Those who were not present during yesterday’s elections did not get any post.
Andales, one of the elected board of directors, said that they already agreed to have Pe as president even before the election was held.
The PCL election by city chapters is mandated by the Local Government Code. According to the constitution and by laws of the federation, the term of office of all the officers of the league in all levels shall be the entire duration of their respective terms as councilors.
Pe has not decided yet if he would be interested to run in the national level but said that he is not discarding the possibility.
“Wala ta kahibaw unsay mahitabo after but well, we will not shy away from any responsibility,” he said. In the previous term, Pe was vice president in Cebu City and regional director in Central Visayas. Last term’s president was former councilor Christopher Alix. (THE FREEMAN)
