CEBU, Philippines – A man was in critical condition after he was hacked by another man in Tuburan, Cebu last Monday afternoon.
Antonio Abayon, 33, driver and a resident of Barangay Cantipay, Carmen Cebu was hacked while he was drinking soft drinks in Esmero Store near Tuburan Public Market.
A concerned citizen informed the Tuburan Police Station about the said incident. Police immediately responded to the report and was able to apprehend one Solomon Quijote Jr., 40, living in Barangay Fortaliza, Tuburan, Cebu.
Initial investigation revealed that at about 1:40 p.m., while Abayon was standing in Esmero Store, Quijote suddenly appeared at his back and hacked him with the use of a 15-inch kitchen knife.
Quijote immediately fled and went to a public cemetery, but police were able to corner him.
PO2 Junil Ater of Tuburan Police Station told The FREEMAN that Quijote got angry with Abayon when his 13-year-old son told him that he saw the victim together with his wife.
"Daghan pud ang miingon na makit-an nila ang biktima ug ang asawa sa suspect na magkuyog. Unya na taymingan pud na niadtu ang biktima sa Tuburan kay naa i-deliver ug nakit-an siya sa suspect dayun tigbas," PO2 Ater added.
The suspect then started to watch Abayon, and when the victim went to Tuburan, the suspect and his son went to see Abayon. When the suspect's son confirmed that it was Abayon that he saw with his mother, Quijote then attacked him.
The victim sustained several wounds in his arm after he tried to shield himself from Quijote's attack. He was also wounded in the neck.
Abayon was immediately rushed to Tuburan District Hospital but was transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial medical Center (VSMMC) as a vein in his arm was hit from the attack.
The suspect is facing charges of frustrated murder. (THE FREEMAN)
