'Habal-habal' driver nabbed for drugs
CEBU, Philippines – A habal-habal driver, an alleged known drug personality in Barangay Maya, Daanbantayan was arrested by the police officers during a buy-bust operation during the weekend.
Rannie Punay, 25, a resident of Sitio Ibabao, Barangay Maya, is now facing a charge for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act after he was caught selling shabu to a police poseur buyer.
The elements of Daanbantayan Police Station composed of PO3 Bonifacio Asingua, PO3 Ken Jerson Ingayo, PO2 Dario Coyoca, and PO2 Henry Compuesto arrested the suspect at around 4:30 p.m.
After receiving information on the alleged illegal activities of the suspect, the police, together with the informant immediately conducted a buy-bust operation which led to the arrest of the suspect right at his own residence.
One of the policemen allegedly acted as poseur buyer and negotiated with Punay to buy P500 worth of shabu.
While the negotiation was going on, the police officers positioned in areas where they could immediately apprehend the suspect and immediately pounced on him when they saw him handed over a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing believed to be shabu to the poseur buyer.
Aside from the pack of shabu, the arresting policemen also recovered from Punay the P500 marked money used in the operation.
The suspect is now detained at Daanbantayan Police Station while waiting for the filing illegal drug charges against him. The evidences recovered from him were forwarded to the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory for examination. (THE FREEMAN)
