CEBU, Philippines - A group of juveniles stabbed and killed last Monday evening a twenty-year-old man at the Reclamation Area in Mandaue City.
Mark Cabiana, 20, of sitio Mahayag, Subangdaku, Mandaue City, sustained several stab wounds on his body.
A witness said Cabiana, who was walking along E. O. Perez Street, was being followed by a group of seven juveniles who were on board a multicab at around 10 p.m.
The witness said one of the juveniles suddenly got off the vehicle and struck Cabiana on the back with a broken bottle.
Three of the juvenile’s companions, who were armed with knives, followed and took turns in stabbing Cabiana.
When Cabiana fell, the witness said, the other two juveniles in the multicab joined their companions.
One of them flung a red handkerchief at Cabiana, which landed on Cabiana’s face, the witness said.
The group then fled.
“Nagtoo gyud ko nga ang motibo sa pagpatay ani kay parte anang dumot sa biktima (I believe the group had a grudge against Cabiana),” SPO1 SPO1 Kerwin Bejer of the Mandaue City Police Office.
SPO1 Bejer had theorized that the juveniles are identified with the street gang called “Bloods,” the red handkerchief being the group’s signature.
Found at the crime scene were two knives, a broken bottle of liquor, and a red handkerchief.
Cabiana’s body was taken to the Cosmopolitan Funeral Parlor in Mandaue City for autopsy. (THE FREEMAN)
