LTFRB exec's car hits taxi near wine store

CEBU, Philippines – A legal officer of the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board-7 reportedly drove away after hitting a taxicab while leaving a wine store along Gorordo Avenue, Cebu City past 1 a.m. yesterday.

The LTFRB officer was identified as lawyer Jose Douglas Sanson, 64, of Sikatuna Street, Barangay Zapatera.

Investigation conducted by PO3 Antonio Deligero showed that Sanson drove his Kia Sorento SUV out of the wine store when his car bumped into a CTC taxicab.

The cab, owned by the Corominas Transport Corp., was parked in the area while its driver, Prospero Delicano, Jr., 36, of East Capitol Hills, Barangay Capitol Site, was not around.

Instead of getting out of his car, Sanson allegedly drove away.   Delicano, upon learning of the incident, drove his cab and chased Sanson. He then accosted Sanson and the two proceeded to the Traffic Group Office.

Sanson, the police report showed, said he did not notice that he bumped into the taxicab so he just proceeded to leave the place.

Both parties, however, agreed to settle the matter. Sanson paid Delicano P3,000 for the damage of the latter's vehicle. The FREEMAN called up Sanson last night for his comments about the incident but was told that he was already asleep. (THE FREEMAN)
