Meca, Gullas complete slate for councilors league polls

CEBU, Philippines – Danao City Councilor Remedios Durano-Meca and Talisay City Councilor Eduardo Gullas III yesterday announced their complete lineup for the upcoming provincial elections of the Philippine Councilors League.

Meca and Gullas announced that Balamban Councilor Dave Karamihan will run for Secretary General, Sogod Councilor Gamaliel Lumapas for Treasurer, Boljoon Councilor Alfredo Awe for Auditor, and Consolacion Councilor Julius Alegado for Press Relations Officer.

Meanwhile, Councilors Emmarie Lolipop Ouano-Dizon of Mandaue City, Mercury Fernandez of Pilar, Rodolfo Cabigas of Talisay City, Emmanuel Jo of Balamban, Alfonso Pestolante of San Remigio, Robert Selma of Minglanilla, Samuel Moralde of Daanbantayan and Napoleon Teves of Santander will run for Board of Directors.

Meca and Gullas said they underwent consultations in coming up with the right people in their slate.

Meca said she needed teammates who would help her bring cohesive and effective changes to the organization to implement programs that would focus on empowering the vulnerable sectors of the community like women, children and the youth.

But before community programs can be implemented, Meca said the task of PCL must begin by looking after the welfare and interest of its members, something that Gullas agrees with.

Meca is the daughter of Danao City Vice Mayor Ramon 'Nito' Durano III while Gullas is the grandson of Cebu First District Rep. Eduardo R. Gullas.

The president PCL - Cebu Province Chapter will get a seat at the Provincial Board as ex-officio member along with the Provincial President of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation and the Association of Barangay Councils.

Currently, the PB seat is being held by Consolacion Councilor Alfred Francis Ouano, who announced his support to the team up of Meca and Gullas.

For its part, the Liberal Party announced the candidacy of Talisay City Councilor Romeo Villarante for president of PCL - Cebu Province Chapter. (THE FREEMAN)
