Boljoon man kills drinking buddy
CEBU, Philippines - Over still unknown reasons, a man shot to death his friend after their drinking spree in Barangay El Pardo, Boljoon town last Tuesday evening.
Police said the victim, Harold Oliveros Gurabel alias “Rudy,” 37 was shot to death by Benito Niere Sesuelos, 39.
Witnesses told the police that prior to the incident, Gurabel was with his friends and the suspect in a videoke bar owned by Gabriel Batayola Paragsa having a drinking spree. But moments later, the victim, who was obviously drunk already, reportedly lied down on a wooden bench outside the bar to rest while Sesuelos went home after he was called by his relative.
However, Sesuelos allegedly returned later to the videoke bar carrying an unknown caliber of firearms and without any apparent reason shot thrice the victim who was lying asleep on the bench.
One of the witnesses claimed that before the shooting, Sesuelos approached him and whispered that Rudy pointed a gun at him, but he did not clearly understand what Sesuelos said so he ignored it.
Elements of Boljoon Police Station immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation that resulted to the arrest of Sesuelos at his residence.
Gurabel sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head and different parts of his body and died before reaching the Boljoon Rural Heath Unit
In another incident, a farmer was charged with murder before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for killing another farmer in Barangay Kangdampas, Barili town.
Juana Lacostales, a resident of Sitio Sta. Ana, of the same barangay, filed a murder case against Isidro Jakosalem alias “Judy,” 24, for killing her husband, Calexto Lacostales, 49. Dominador Calago, a barangay tanod, said at around 8:30 p.m. of July 16 he was following Lacostales and Jakosalem and was more or less five meters away from them. But while walking, he said that he was surprised when he saw Jakosalem shot Lacostales from behind with the use of undetermined caliber of firearm hitting the victim to the back portion of his head. Juana said that at around 3 p.m. of the same day, her husband and the suspect’s father, Sonny Jakosalem, had a misunderstanding that resulted in a fistfight at the improvised cockpit arena at their place. — Mellanie C.
