CEBU, Philippines - For trying to protect his 60- year-old father from his amok nephew, a man ended up being hacked in Barangay Poblacion, Cotcot, Liloan last Tuesday night.
Fortunately, Richard Caayon, 41, only sustained minor hack wounds and was immediately brought to the hospital for treatment.
Police said that the suspect, Feil Caayon, 27, got mad at his grandfather after the latter refused to give him money.
Feil allegedly choked his grandfather and forcibly took his wallet. The old man was allegedly able to free himself and ran away but the suspect allegedly chased him while carrying a jungle bolo.
When Richard heard of the incident, he allegedly went to save his father and tried to pacify his nephew. But the suspect allegedly turned his ire to his uncle and hacked him several times.

Witnesses said Feil continued hacking the victim even if he already fell on the ground.
The victim was immediately rushed to Liloan Medical Center for treatment while the suspect was immediately arrested by the responding police officers. The bolo that the suspect used was also recovered in the crime scene.
Feil is now detained at Liloan Police Station while facing charges of frustrated homicide.
