- Marc Nuñez Torniado/JPM -

CEBU, Philippines – The wife of the teacher who was shot dead inside Tubod Elementary School in Minglanilla, Cebu is asking authorities to speed up the investigation of the death of her husband, Serafin Villahermosa.

Villahermosa’s wife asked not to be named for security reasons. She told The FREEMAN that her family needs to be secured because of what happened to her husband.

“Kinsa man gani ang authority, palihug lang intawon nga dali-on ni siya nga kaso kay nakulbaan na ko sa amoang seguridad,” she said.

Villahermosa’s wife added that she had been receiving death threats before her husband’s death. She narrated that her husband’s daily route was from their house to the school, and then back to their house.

She refused to give details when asked for a possible reason for her husband’s killing. “Tabangi intawon mi ninyo. This is not a joke. Dili jud baya mi armado nga mga tawo. Wala miy pusil, walay kutsilyo, wala tanan.”

Villahermosa, 36, a fourth year high school teacher, was shot inside the Tubod Elementary School in Minglanilla at 5 p.m. last Monday by a still unidentified gunman. Villahermosa died from multiple gunshot wounds while his fellow teacher, Rogelio Maunes who was walking with him, was also hit in the right arm.

Arden Monisit, Provincial Schools Division superintendent ordered the release of financial assistance for the victim. Monisit added that Maunes is in need of blood (AB+) and they are trying their best to help him.

Monisit also requested the Minglanilla chief of police, Chief Inspector Resty Santos, to make sure there is police visibility in Tubod Elementary School. (THE FREEMAN)
