CEBU, Philippines – Fire and police investigators are not discounting arson as the cause of a fire in sitio Torril, barangay Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City last Sunday night.
Senior Fire Officer 1 Atilano Berido and Fire Office 1 Climaco Salisid said flames coming out from the kitchen quickly spread throughout the house owned by Vivian Pebida-Pahugot.
Vivian's brothers, namely Pedro Jr., Patricio, and Pedro III - are being implicated in the killing of their two cousins which took place last July 12. Vivian believes relatives intentionally set the house on fire to get even.
Vivian's father, Pedro Pebida Sr., has someone in particular in mind who he suspects could have torched his daughter's house.
Pebida Sr.'s store last week also went up in smoke.
The Pebida brothers are presently being detained by the police.
"Usa ka angolo ang arson ang among gitan-aw apan dili pa kini namo ma-prove hangtod wala pa'y saksi nga motumbok gyud sa pamilya," Salisid said. (THE FREEMAN)
