Woman loses valuables to burglar; foreigner loses wallet at upscale diner

CEBU, Philippines - The house of a 42-year-old woman in Barangay Busay was burglarized yesterday afternoon while a 27-year-old foreign national lost his wallet while eating at an upscale restaurant in Barangay Banilad the other night.   Based on records of the Theft and Robbery Section of the city police, Malou Benedicto, married, lost to the robber a gray Toshiba laptop worth P150,000; a sky blue Portable Play Station worth P10,500; perfume and skateboard worth P5,800 and cash worth P1,500.

The burglary happened about 1pm after Benedicto left her house in PBN Housing, Barangay Busay.

PO1 Justino Paragados of TRS told The FREEMAN a tanod of the barangay saw a suspicious person near Benedicto’s house about the same time the incident was estimated to have occurred. The tanod is scheduled to give the TRS a description of the man today.

Meanwhile, foreign national Hong Nguyen told the TRS he placed his wallet on the table while eating at the restaurant in Barangay Banilad about 10:30 the other night. He realized later that his wallet had disappeared. The wallet reportedly contained important identification cards and cash worth P5,000. 

Paragados said follow-up investigation will be conducted on the two cases. (THE FREEMAN)
