PB dads say P500,000 against P.Noy's austerity measure

CEBU, Philippines - Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. and Provincial Board Member Arleigh Sitoy yesterday joined critics in the granting of severance pay amounting to P500,000 to former Department of Tourism regional director Patria Aurora Roa.

Sanchez and Sitoy said the move of the Mactan Cebu International Airport Authority Board contradicts the austerity measures of the new administration of President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III.

Sanchez and Sitoy expressed their dismay in a resolution, which the Provincial Board will discuss on its regular session on Monday.

Roa served as representative of the DOT to the MCIAA board for 15 years. In their resolution, Sanchez and Sitoy said Roa received a considerable amount of retirement pay for her services as DOT former regional director.

The grant of the P500,000 severance pay even caught the attention of the Office of the Ombudsman.

They also cited the outcry and lamentation of gross unfairness from the MCIAA employees and also the negative numerous remarks from the public.

Sanchez and Sitoy are also calling on the Commission on Audit to determine whether the granting of the amount to Roa is fair, equitable and reasonable under the law.

The FREEMAN tried to reach Roa through her cellular phone but failed.   (FREEMANNEWS)
