Dengue claims 11; cases go up
CEBU, Philippines - The Integrated Provincial Health Office reported an increase of almost 50-percent of dengue cases in the province for the first two quarters of the year compared to the same period last year.
There were already 11 fatalities reported from January to June, according to the records of the IPHO.
Rosalinda Jao, IPHO dengue coordinator, said that as of last month they have recorded 548 cases or 48.91-percent higher than the 368 cases for the same period last year.
Danao City reported the highest number of 64 cases, followed by Talisay and Asturias, 52, Toledo City, 44, and Carmen 19.
The 11 fatalities were reported from Argao, Asturias, Ginatilan, Moalboal, Medellin, Compostela and Pinamungajan.
Most of the victims are children of ages five to nine years old. There were also few adults ages 60 to 65 years old. (FREEMAN NEWS)
