Another taxi driver killed

- Flor Z. Perolina -

CEBU, Philippines - A taxi driver was found with a gunshot wound inside his vehicle along the Christ the King church in barangay Alang-Alang, Mandaue City at past 11 o'clock last Thursday evening.

Antonio Descartin, 34, married, of Dumanjug, Cebu was already in critical condition when found by another taxi driver, his car bearing a bullet hole.

Descartin drove an RC Corominas car with plate number ZFF-1066.

He sustained a gunshot wound on the back of his head, the bullet exiting on his forehead.

He died on the way to the Mandaue District Hospital alive.

Intelligence and Detective Management Bureau (IDMB) chief P/Insp. Ramil Morpos said Descartin's wallet still had P50 in it and his cellular phone was not taken.

The police theorized that he could have been robbed before he was shot.

Morpos said Descartin had paid for the taxi's rental earlier.

Morpos said Descartin could have been robbed considering that the lower compartment in the dashboard was open when the police arrived.

Residents said they heard a gunshot and saw three men walking from the place where the victim was found.

Found on the crime scene was a deformed slug from an unknown caliber. — THE FREEMAN
