CEBU, Philippines - A man was hacked to death by own his friend in Sitio Mlhuiler, Barangay Himensulan, San Francisco, Camotes Island last Thursday afternoon.
Police said they have no idea what triggered the attack that killed Santos Maloloy-on, 38, as the suspect, Loryen Formentera, 36, refuses to talk about the incident or answer questions from investigators.
Maloloy-on suffered from multiple hacked wounds on his neck and left arm that resulted to his instantaneous death.
Police said Formentera used a “lagaraw” (scythe) in killing the victim.
The suspect was allegedly arrested by responding barangay tanods at around 6:25 p.m. and was immediately turned over to San Francisco Police Station.
According to information gathered by the police, the two, being good friends, were seemed going along well before the incident happened.
SPO3 Edison Torres told The FREEMAN that Formentera appeared to be in state of shocked due to the crime he committed and refused to answer any question asked by the investigator.
“Mag-sige lang siya’g lingo-lingo nya murag wala sa iyang kaugalingon. Basin shock pa ni siya kabahin sa iyang gibuhat,” Torres added.
Torres also said that Formentera doesn’t look like he was under the influence of drugs or liquor when the tanods turned him over.
The suspect is currently detained at the police station for the filing of murder charges against him. — THE FREEMAN
