Father, two sons charged for murder

CEBU, Philippines - A father, his two sons and his nephew are facing murder charges after they allegedly ganged up on, and killed their neighbor last Sunday in Tungkop, Minglanilla.

The information was filed before the Regional Trial Court by Police Chief Inspector Resty Sison Santos of the Minglanilla Police Station.

Cristine Bacalso, 26, and live-in partner of victim Felix Pacaña, narrated in her affidavit that at about 2 p.m. last Sunday, she and Felix were attending to her aunt’s rented out cottages.

At the beach, Felix was entertaining their two children by executing a “back tumbling.” They were interrupted by their neighbor, 22-year-old Pabie Paragoso Jr., which later ended up in a heated argument and fistfight between Felix and Pabie, who ran away.

Few minutes later, Cristine claimed, Pabie came back with his father Pablo, 52, his brother Getlie, 27, and cousin Salvador Paragoso, 21.

The four, according to Cristine’s affidavit, assaulted Felix using a “chako” and hitting him with a stone. Felix was able to run, but he was chased and caught by Getlie, who held Felix’s two arms while Pabie hit him several times with an iron pipe. In the middle of all these, Salvador was also stabbing Felix several times with an ice pick.

Cristine tried to pacify the four and embraced her partner’s wounded body, “begging” the four “for mercy.”

Later a certain John Michael Paragoso arrived at the scene and the four scampered away. With the help of her aunt, Cristine brought Felix to the Minglanilla District Hospital on board a tricycle.

He was taken to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center but he died at the emergency room.

The policemen arrested three of the accused except Salvador, who is still at large. The police recovered the “chako” and the piece of concrete that was used to hit Felix.

Two persons who were on the beach and were able to witness the incident issued a joint affidavit to support the complaint against the four accused.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
