Dane, "wife" face robbery charges

- Mylen P. Manto -

CEBU, Philippines - A Danish national and his alleged Filipina wife are facing robbery charges before the Regional Trial Court after they allegedly robbed a mini mart in Talisay City two months ago.

Talisay Assistant City Prosecutor Benjo Luther A. Macion recommended a bail of P100,000 each for the temporary freedom of Perk Anderson, a native of Denmark and Maria Ong, who are still at-large.

Last April 14, 2010, at around 2:30 p.m., the couple allegedly went inside the store owned by live-in partners Isaias V. Irenea and Ma. Lolita Tribunalo and stole one unit of Dowel machine worth P2,500 and assorted groceries worth P2,000.

In a joint-affidavit, Irenea and Tribunalo, said the two accused, who are both residing on Arcilla Street, Mabolo, Cebu City, entered their store in Talisay City and directly took the items without paying for them.

But the complainants said that before the couple fled, they threatened them by pointing fingers at their faces and angrily told them “we will be back to get all your personal belongings.” The accused allegedly further told them that they can afford to pay for the items that they took.

The respondents immediately fled away with their stolen articles on boarded a Blue Eye taxi bearing plate numbers GHX 779 as their getaway vehicle.

Few minutes after the incident, Irenea brought Tribunalo to Talisay City District Hospital after she suffered hypertension due to anxiety caused by what the accused did to them. Then they went to Talisay City Police Station to report the incident and have it recorded in the police blotter.

Until now, Tribunalo claimed she still feel anxious of what the two accused did to them.

Jovie Nieves and Merby Entera, neighbors of the complainants, also executed a joint affidavit to attest the truth and to manifest their intention to support the filing of a case against Anderson and Ong who forcibly took a machine and groceries from the store of Irenea and Tribunalo using threats and intimidation.

Meanwhile, Macion issued a subpoena to the respondents giving them until June 3, 2010 to answer the accusations against them but until now no controverting evidence has been submitted by the accused. Because of this, Macion said there is a probable cause to elevate the complaint to the court.  – THE FREEMAN
