Dead body fished in Ermita

CEBU, Philippines - An unidentified man’s dead body was fished from the seawaters of Sitio Bato, Barangay Ermita, Cebu City early morning yesterday.

Marlon Garcia, 28, said he was riding his boat when he noticed a floating lifeless body of a man, prompting him to immediately call the attention of a barangay tanod to seek police assistance.

Garcia described the victim to have a slim body, about 5’3” to 5’6” in height, wearing green camouflage and checkered shorts and was estimated to be in his late 60s.

There was no sign struggle or external injuries on the victim’s body that would indicate foul play.

The Homicide Section police said that heart attack might be the possible cause of his death, but still the police are trying to determine the real cause of his death.

The body was later taken to Cosmopolitan Funeral Homes for autopsy. Funeral parlor personnel said autopsy results showed that the victim died of drowning.
