Fiscal clears Fil-Am of illegal firearms rap

- Mylen P. Manto -

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office has dismissed the criminal complaint for illegal possession of firearms against a Filipino-American who was caught in possession of assorted firearms during a raid conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation early this week.

Assistant city prosecutor Alexander Acosta dropped the complaint for violation of the Republic Act 8294 otherwise known as illegal possession of firearms against Cedric Brian Te Su after the latter was able to present his firearms licenses.

Acosta immediately ordered the NBI to release Su and return all the firearms seized from his residence during the raid last Tuesday for lack of legal basis to keep them in custody.

Su presented his licenses and a certification issued by the Firearms, Explosives, Security Agencies and Guards Supervision Section that he is a legitimate owner of the six firearms confiscated by the NBI.

The NBI arrested Su last June 22 at 3:30 p.m. in Laguardia, Lahug after six assorted firearms were recovered from his possession. The NBI operatives raided his house based
