No invitation for Cebu LP execs to oath-taking

CEBU, Philippines - Members of the Liberal Party in Cebu have not received any invitation to the oath-taking of their standard bearer, president-elect Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, despite the fact that leaders of its rival party, One Cebu, have been invited to the event.

One Cebu had thrown its support to Gilberto Teodoro of Lakas-Kampi-CMD in the May 10 elections. Aquino won in Cebu, beating Teodoro, the second placer, by more than 500,000 votes.

But former Cebu City councilor and LP provincial chairman Hilario Davide III said that he is not jealous that his rival during the elections, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, was invited to the event on June 30 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

Davide said he was not disappointed over Garcia being invited to Aquino’s oath-taking because the invitation was not solely decided by the LP but by the officials of league of governors in the country.

He said up to now he has not received any invitation from the LP although he believes that he will be invited to the event. — Airynne June D. Magdadaro/LPM
