Labangon barangay captain is 1st Cebuano PRC awardee
CEBU, Philippines - Labangon barangay captain Felix “Dodo” Abella was awarded as Outstanding Geodetic Engineer last June 18, 2010 at the Fiesta Pavillion of Manila Hotel.
Abella received the award from Nicolas P. Lapeña Jr., chairman of Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) and Antonio S. Adriano and Nilo L. Rosas, both PRC commissioners. He is the first Cebuano to receive such award.
He received his award for exemplifying his geodetic engineering expertise in his 55 years of dedicated government service in the Bureau of Lands in the Visayas, rising from assistant surveyor in Carmen, Bohol, to district land officer in Dumaguete City, then as regional director in Tacloban, Cebu and Iloilo cities.
Abella was also recognized as the Most Outstanding District Land Officer of the Philippines for five consecutive years, Most Outstanding Regional Director of the Bureau of Lands for two years and named as one of the Ten Outstanding Barangay Officers of the Year also in Cebu and Iloilo cities because of his significant contributions on the profession.
Abella also has contribution to society which earned him the Dangal ng Bayan nomination having activated councils on drug abuse, disaster coordination and child protection while serving as barangay captain of Labangon, Cebu City for 12 years.
Abella was a college graduate of Geodetic Engineering in National Manila University in the year 1952, and passed the licensure examination in the year 1953.
“Lipay kaayo ko og dakong dungog ni sa Cebu,” Abella said when asked how he feel about the award he got.
