'Notorious robber' shot dead in Tejero

CEBU, Philippines - An alleged ex-convict was shot dead by two unidentified persons in front of Southern Gothong ticketing office in Barangay Tejero, Cebu City about 9pm last Monday.

Handly Castillo alias Honasan, 21, a resident of sitio Silangan, Barangay Tejero died after sustaining several gunshot wounds.

According to Junard Sumampong, 27, security guard connected with Password Security Agency and detailed at the Southern Gothong office, he saw the victim sitting alone on the sidewalk prior to the incident. He said the victim seemed to be waiting for someone.

Sumampong said it was only when he went into the establishment when he heard several bursts of gunfire.

He immediately went back outside to verify and saw Honasan already sprawled on the ground bathed in his own blood.

Responding policemen later recovered eight empty shells of a .45 firearm, two deformed slugs and two other fragments from the crime scene.

PO2 Jodan Batucan of the Homicide Section said that the victim was allegedly among the notorious snatchers in the area. Honasan has reportedly been jailed several times for theft.

The police, however, discounted the possibility that the victim was killed by vigilantes, saying it could be one of Honasan’s cohorts who killed him.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
